Circular Strategies for Refilling
Remembering Together, Dundee
Co-creating Covid Community Memorial is a project supported by UNESCO City of Design Dundee, green space Scotland and funded by Scottish Government.
It is about creating together a memorial that is a healing path to remember and honour all those affected by Covid, mark what has been lost and changed in our lives and preserve the best of what we have learned together during the pandemic.
The pandemic has impacted the people of Dundee beyond health and has stirred all aspects of individual lives, communities and the built & natural environment. The negative impacts can be seen on all age groups, genders, and races. Moreover, it has deepened the pre-existing inequalities harshly affecting those already marginalised and excluded due to their economic status, disability, ethnicity, or even opinions. There has been another side to this story as well - people have shown resilience to rise to the challenge and trigger positivity through their actions and their goodwill.
We aim to capture these positive and negative impacts by working collaboratively with diverse communities with different lived experiences. We will encourage people to reflect on these past two years through the co design process and using design tools. We aim to collectively arrive at a healing path, reflecting and remembering.
Our approach is human-centred design, emphasising the questions, insights and activities that lies with the people and their environment.
The Living Library
The Living Library, a system composed of one digital and one physical tool aimed to connect different generations of growers to share and preserve knowledge around agro-biodiversity. The Living Library is a physical space for the local growers to connect with the community that aims to recognize and re-value growers’ knowledge and acknowledge their crucial role as a conservationist, at the time that promotes participation as biodiversity conservators to other members of the community.
Step zero for
Step Zero for Net Zero is an early intervention workshop for SMEs facing ambiguity and a lack of guidance. The workshop embodies in itself, the idea of net zero transition from a state of uncertainty to positivity. The workshop facilitates the business to embed the three layers of value, place and time alongside the quantitative data sets of carbon assessment. The outcome is an emerging net zero canvas formalizing the value creation opportunities, back casting the transformative innovations and defining the workforce ethos. The team together outlines a hierarchy for the tasks for maximizing environmental and social impact of their business.
